For a while now, I have had a intermittent problem with there fans on this macbook, either running properly, not at all, or occasionally not all or always on.
When it's doing either all the time or not at all, it seems to fix itself, though sometimes, this has been linked with the battery running out.
Any ideas.
I installed an app called SMC Fan control,which currently shows a temperature of 65c, and 000 rpm.
Try a SMC reset:

Note that an error free AHT is not definitive.
The fan should always be running.
Open the back of the MBA and see if there is dust and debris inside. If so, clean it out.

I have tried the SMC reset, no chnage, and and I couldnot get the AHT to start, i did as the imstructions said,aft holding down the d key before the grey screen comes up, and when it moves onto the parts where the apple logo appears, it shows a folder icon, with a question mark in, then switches apple logo and boot up as normal.
its running 10.7.5 of that helps.

Use the installation disk that came with the MBP that has the AHT instructions on it.

i have OS X 10.7 on a sub memory stick, the one you could buy from the Apple Store, and when I hold the d button down as instructed, it goes to OS X utilities, can't see how to find AHT.
any thoughts.

thanks for the help. Sorted it out now. Took it to a repair shop, and they cleaned the dust off the fans. I know I cold have probably done it mysel, but not that confident to do it,
